Negotiations are over, it's official: Miami Heat assistant David Fizdale has finally reached a contract agreement to become the Memphis Grizzlies‘ new head coach, as reported by The Vertical's Adrian Wojnarowski.

The agreement was signed for an undisclosed amount for four years. The final year in the contract has a team option.

Fizdale, who has worked for the Golden State Warriors, Atlanta Hawks, and theHeat, impressed Grizzlies management with his strategic abilities, his championship experience, and the overall high esteem he carries with players.

He has worked in the NBA for 13 years, working his way up the ranks in Miami since 2007. There, he worked as the video coordinator, director of player development, and eventually lead assistant coach.

Dwyane Wade discussed how much it means to have coach Fizdale around for development.

He's meant a lot since he came in in, Wade said of Fizdale back in 2012. Taking time to, being that guy who's not only able to stay out there with me, but also bring a lot of things to me, and help me with a lot of things like moves.

He's brought a lot to my post game when he got here. I really didn't post up that much before he came, so we worked on that a lot. I always work with him after, and I take his advice on a lot of things, because his offensive mind is as good as I've seen.

One of Fizdale's first tasks will be to convince free agent Mike Conley to remain with the team. If anyone can do it, he would be the man, because he has a reputation for not only development, but also for building strong relationships with players.
