Among the many videos that premiered at DC FanDome 2021, a new trailer for Gotham Knights made its exciting debut at the event. Developed by WB Games Montreal, Gotham Knights is the upcoming Batman co-op title.

Although the game itself won't feature Batman, Gotham Knights is still set in the Batman universe. The story takes off after Bruce Wayne's death in a Batcave explosion. Consequently, Gotham City is left to the reins of the rest of the Bat-family—Robin, Nightwing, Batgirl, and Red Hood.

The developers also previously worked on Arkham Origins and a bit of Arkham Knights. Despite the similarity in name and even seemingly connected plot structures, the titles are set in separate DC universes, representing different continuities.

After the game's release was delayed to 2022, fans were awaiting any new reveals about Gotham Knights. Finally, the new trailer offers a peek into the Court of Owls, who are looking like the story's main villains.

The Court of Owls serves as the secret society of elites in Gotham. These spooky rulers carry masks that resemble owls, hence the name. With gazillions of wealth, the elites are well-equipped with assassins called Talons at their beck and call. The video shows the members of the Bat family falling into their clutches one by one.

Mysterious conspiracies aside, the latest trailer continues to shape up Gotham Knights‘ narrative arc. As the villains in the story are now clear, fans can look forward to taking down the Talons and the Owls. By assembling together, the family will hope to protect Gotham—even without Batman in the picture.

With a closer look into the Court of Owls, how excited are you for the release of Gotham Knights next year?
