It wasn't too long ago that Deron Williams was dominating on the NBA court, but he has been out of the league since 2016-17 and has since turned his focus to boxing. It looks like Williams is in line for a major boxing appearance on the Jake Paul-Tommy Fury undercard on Dec. 18, per Shams Charania of The Athletic and Stadium.

A potential opponent for Williams? That would be legendary NFL running back Frank Gore, who's third on the all-time rushing list.

Gore actually played for the New York Jets last season, but he wasn't picked up for the 2021 campaign after hoping to sign on with a team. While he hasn't officially retired, he too has been putting in focus on boxing and would be an intriguing opponent for Deron Williams on this undercard bout.

The Jake Paul-Tommy Fury fight is scheduled to take place in Tampa, Florida. There's plenty of hype surrounding this matchup as both fighters look to maintain a spotless record. Paul is 4-0 in his boxing career, while Fury — the half-brother of Tyson Fury — is 7-0 as a pro boxer.

Adding a Deron Williams vs. Frank Gore fight could certainly bring more eyeballs to the event. Who knows how good the fight would actually be, but just having these two names involve could pique the interest of fans.
