The Los Angeles Dodgers were primed for a fantastic run entering the 2021 MLB postseason after acquiring Max Scherzer and Trea Turner before the trade deadline. Despite missing Max Muncy and Trevor Bauer, they were victorious over the 107-win San Francisco Giants squad, but succumbed to the World Series Champions Atlanta Braves in six games.

Interestingly, the best player of Atlanta over the past decade in Freddie Freeman is now a free agent and possibly the most attractive commodity in the market. The Dodgers will be one of the most busiest organizations in the next few days as they will need a shortstop to replace Corey Seager who is headed to the Texas Rangers, while star closer Kenley Jansen still has not signed a new deal. With that in mind, these are a few free agents who the Dodgers must try adding onto their team.

Freddie Freeman

Even with Muncy expected to return for Opening Day, the massive opportunity to sign a superstar in Freeman will be welcomed with open arms. The Dodgers are competing with other huge markets like the New York Yankees in wanting the services of Freeman, but according to a recent report, negotiations have been ongoing between the Dodgers and Freeman already.

Turner and Mookie Betts are spectacular individuals to set up the table on top of the batting order, but having Freeman hitting third or cleanup will be a fantastic boost to the Dodgers lineup. For instance in the National League Championship Series (NLCS), the Dodges lacked reliable options who could topple the exceptional rotation and bullpen of the Braves. Freeman's addition definitely fills in that gap and gives them an everyday first baseman as well.

Kenley Jansen

Ever since the 2012 season, Jansen has already been the incredible closer of the Dodgers as he tallied a terrific 25 saves in just his second full season in the National League. It is rare to find a consistent closer in this era who can close games on almost every given night, especially in a large fan base like the Dodgers. The continuity is the deciding factor in offering any kind of offer Jansen's camp prefers in this new deal.

Even at 34 years old, he has not shown signs of slowing down or losing steam at the critical games. Moreover, L.A.'s bullpen is vastly undermanned for the upcoming season with numerous free agents as well, like Joe Kelly and Corey Knebel. These pitchers are all immensely talented, thus the Dodgers must try their best in keeping Jansen to keep the backline of the bullpen at an excellent level. If Jansen indeed returns to his home, it will be an edge for the organization to continually bolster their bullpen to aid their superb starting rotation.

Carlos Correa

With the aforementioned loss of Seager, that opened up a huge hole in the middle infield of the Dodgers. Their current crop of players may force Chris Taylor to play shortstop if Opening Day was today, but adding Carlos Correa from the Houston Astros would be a spectacular signing for L.A. Correa has had years wherein he has an above average regular season, but he suddenly emerges as one of the best players in the whole of baseball during the postseason.

The offense is the more magnified facet of Correa's game, but his versatility defensively is one of the most fabulous skills he possesses in his arsenal. Having Justin Turner and Correa on the left side of the infield will provide a huge headache for batters due to Correa's athletic ability to throw the ball deep in the hole. Correa is solely not just a power hitter as well as Manager Dave Roberts could slot him into the fifth or sixth in the batting order, but he will be just as effective.

The Dodgers fans know they have the resources and financial capabilities to lure these high class free agents to their city, but the negotiations are still an integral part of this short signing period. With the other big names already signing with a new squad, options are dwindling with Spring Training starting already on Sunday. Thus, competition continues to be stiff among these organizations, but the Dodgers must definitely utilize their edge, especially with their tremendous foundation and star power.
