The Los Angeles Dodgers have had a strong first half to the 2024 season. However, one of Los Angeles' stars is dealing with a health scare in his family. Freddie Freeman's three-year-old son Maximus was hospitalized during the last week of July. However, Freeman's wife Chelsea provided a hopeful update on their son's status on Thursday.

Maximus Freeman reportedly went into a “full-body paralysis” on Friday, and after undergoing a series of tests, he is battling a severe case of Gullain-Barre syndrome, Chelsea Freeman wrote in an Instagram statement, per Mike DiGiovanna.

Thankfully, the family noted that Maximus is on a promising path to recovery.

Here is the full statement:

“Hi All, we wanted to give an update on Maximus. Last Friday, Max rapidly declined and went into full body paralysis. We are very fortunate to have gotten him to the hospital in time so they could reinforce his lung. Freddie was in Houston at the time and rushed to the first flight back home. After many tests, Max is battling a severe case of Gullain-Barre syndrome. A rare neurological condition that is especially rare in children. These have been the hardest and scariest days of our lives Maximus is such a special boy and he has been fighting SO hard. This is going to be a journey to recover, but we have faith that he will be completely healed,” Chelsea Freeman stated.

“We have been blown away by his improvements in the last 48 hours,” Freeman continued. “Maximus was excavated from his breathing tube and taken off of the ventilator yesterday, which is a huge win for us. We believe in power prayer and we have been witnessing a miracle in his recovery. Please continue to cover Maximus and our family in your prayers We really appreciate and have felt all of your support.”

Dodgers fans support Freddie Freeman amid son's recovery

Freeman understandably has not played since the Dodgers' July 26 game against the Houston Astros. Manager Dave Roberts said Freeman's absence is likely to extend through the team's San Diego Padres series.

Dodgers fans rallied around the Freemans alongside the update on their son. Those on social media expressed their support for the family and encouraged Freddie Freeman to take as much time as he needed while he tended to the urgent matter.

It was great to hear that Maximus Freeman has shown improvement in his health. Hopefully, he will continue to undergo a safe recovery.
