The Los Angeles Dodgers fell 8-4 to the Texas Rangers on Sunday, failing to sweep the weekend series at Globe Life Field — but Max Muncy still gave the fans something to cheer about.

Muncy made history by hitting his third grand slam on the campaign, tying the franchise's single-season record in the process. The 32-year-old hit a moonshot in the top of the first inning, scoring Chris Taylor, Freddie Freeman and Mookie Betts.

Although it was the only four runs the Dodgers would score in the game, the team still won the series after convincing 11-5 and 16-3 wins on Friday and Saturday, respectively.

Facing his hometown team, Muncy tied the club record and also helped the Dodgers tie the major league record with their 10th grand slam of the year. He struck out his other three times up in what was an otherwise forgettable game for the squad.

Still, the Dodgers came out of the All-Star break on a nine-game road trip, and put together a very solid 6-3 record. They won two of three in all three series against the Rangers, New York Mets and Baltimore Orioles.

“Not at all,” manager Dave Roberts said when asked if the loss on Sunday put a damper on the trip. “This road trip was a fantastic road trip. Really proud of the way we played.”

Max Muncy and the Dodgers will now head home for a nine-game homestand that begins against the Toronto Blue Jays on Monday night; Michael Grove is expected to get the call for the first game back at Dodger Stadium since Jul. 8.
