The Los Angeles Dodgers lead the NL West and are still amongst the favorites to win the 2022 World Series. For the most part, things are going well in LA. However, one player who has labored out of the gates is Max Muncy.
The two-time All-Star is slashing an abysmal .156/.331/.279 with 3 home runs on the season. His track record speaks for itself. But right now, that track record is the only thing keeping him in the Dodgers' lineup. But Dave Roberts might be forced to make a change if Muncy doesn't turn it around soon.
As bad as the bat has been, it was Muncy's glove that failed him in the Dodgers 4-3 loss against the Phillies on Sunday.
The Dodgers led 3-2 in the bottom of the 10th inning. However, the Phillies had runners on second and third with two outs and Alec Bohm at the plate. On a 2-2 count, Bohm slapped a sharp grounder towards second base. It looked like a routine play for Max Muncy, but the grounder ate him up and he bobbled it. His error allowed not only the tying run to score, but also the winning run to dash home and give the Phillies a walk-off victory.

Muncy commented on the humiliating error after the game.

He is still one of the best power hitters in MLB when he is at the top of his game. His defensive versatility has been a blessing for the Dodgers over the years as well. But Muncy is at a low point right now. Dave Roberts may need to bench him for a few days so he can reset.
The Dodgers still expect Max Muncy to play a pivotal role for them moving forward despite his lackluster play so far in 2022.
