The Los Angeles Dodgers finished off a sweep of the Chicago Cubs on Sunday Night Baseball. The final score of 7-1 did not stand out by any means, as Los Angeles cruised to the victory. However, pitcher Walker Buehler joined two Yankees legends in the record books and also set a new MLB record in the game.

Buehler excelled for 7 innings on Sunday. The star right-hander struck out 6 batters while allowing just 4 hits and 1 run. Buehler, who was credited with the win, now has the third highest winning percentage through his first 100 career starts in the big leagues. He trails a couple of Yankees legends in Whitey Ford and Ron Guidry for highest win percentage through a pitcher's first 100 starts. Nonetheless, anytime your name is listed next to Hall of Fame caliber names such as that, it means you are doing something right.

Walker Buehler also set the record for fewest losses through a pitcher's 100 starts with a mark of just 14. It is almost unfathomable that Buehler has only lost 14 total games in his entire career. There are plenty of pitchers who have lost that amount of games within a single season.

The fact that Buehler plays for the Dodgers obviously has helped his winning percentage. But in order to win you still need to pitch well and he has certainly done just that.

Dave Roberts commented on the young ace's success.

“He’s thrown the heck out of the baseball for us. Obviously we expect — he expects — to always be better and continue to get better. He’s been fantastic. Effective, efficient, logging innings and performing. So tonight was a good night.”

Walker Buehler is off to an electric start to the 2022 season. He already tossed a shutout and is making an early case for NL Cy Young. He will look to keep setting records while helping the Dodgers win ballgames.
