On Monday morning, Don Shula, the Hall of Fame coach for the Miami Dolphins, passed away. Many prominent figures in pro football left their condolences. Following the unfortunate news, Brian Flores reacted to Shula's passing.

Just last offseason, Flores was named the next head coach of the Dolphins. Of course, Miami's head coaching job was once held by Shula, who won two Super Bowl during his tenure. Given that, Shula was one of the former coaches to congratulate Flores on taking the head coaching job for the Dolphins.

Before Shula arrived in 1970, the Dolphins were a struggling franchise, going 15-39-2 in their first four years of existence. Nevertheless, Shula was able to turn Miami into a winning organization immediately upon his arrival.

Similar to Shula, Flores accepted the Dolphins job following some years of lowlights. But in his first season in Miami, Flores went 5-11, winning five more games than what was expected of him.

Since joining the Dolphins, Flores has begun to build his team around players that exude toughness and discipline. As Flores said, the majority of his conversations were centered around team building. It seems like Flores took those conversations to heart in his short time in Miami.

Heading into the next season, the Dolphins are hoping to begin moving forward as a franchise. Seeing that Shula is a legend in Miami's and the NFL's history, the Dolphins could be playing in memory of Shula in 2020. At the same time, Flores will hope to achieve what Shula once did in Miami — winning multiple championships.
