There has been plenty of speculation regarding the future of wide receiver Jarvis Landry. Now it seems the Miami Dolphins have at least come up with a temporary solution.
Both sides had been working toward a long-term deal ever since their disappointing 2017 NFL season came to an end. In an offseason filled with more question than answers, the Dolphins have at least locked up Landry for another year after announcing on their official Twitter that they have slapped him with the franchise tag.

The move should come as no surprise considering it was the most likely option before the deadline to tag players. Furthermore, it also gives both sides more time to negotiate a long-term deal.
Article Continues BelowLandry has been one of the lone bright spots in a Dolphins offense that largely fluctuated throughout last season. Despite their scoring woes, he has served as their most consistent player ever since being selected with the 63rd overall pick in the 2014 NFL Draft.
Although he experienced a slight downtick in yards, Landry finished the season with a league-leading 112 receptions to go with 987 yards and a career-high nine touchdowns. It is even more impressive when one considers how he has managed to produce stellar numbers despite all the issues at quarterback they experienced last year.
That said, the three-time Pro Bowler would have been arguably the biggest name on the wide receiver market in free agency. Fortunately, the Dolphins were wise to keep Landry around for at least another year until both sides can hopefully come to a long-term solution in the offseason.
