The Miami Dolphins have released wide receiver Danny Amendola, according to Ian Rapoport of NFL Network.

Amendola is coming off of a 2018 campaign in which he played in 15 games, hauling in 59 receptions for 575 yards and a touchdown.

The 33-year-old, who played his collegiate football at Texas Tech, went undrafted but landed with the St. Louis Rams in 2009. That season, he caught 43 passes for 326 yards and a score.

Then, the following year, Amendola snared 85 balls for 689 yards and three touchdowns.

Amendola spent the first four years of his career with the Rams before signing a five-year, $31 million contract with the New England Patriots in March 2013.

The Woodlands, Tx. native participated in 12 games for the Patriots during his first season with the club, registering 54 catches for 633 yards and a couple of scores in helping New England win a Super Bowl title.

He was then disappointing in 2014, finishing with only 27 receptions for 200 yards and one touchdown, but the following year, Amendola hauled in 65 receptions for 648 yards while reaching the end zone three times.

Staying true to the every-other-year pattern, Amendola then had a very quiet season in 2016, catching 23 passes for 243 yards and four touchdowns. He played one final season with the Pats in 2017, totaling 61 catches for 659 yards and a pair of scores.

Amendola then proceeded to sign a two-year contract with the Dolphins last offseason.

Miami won seven games this past year and has made the playoffs just once since 2009 and only twice since 2002. The Dolphins have also not won a playoff game since the 2000-01 campaign.
