The Miami Dolphins fired head coach Adam Gase on Monday after three years with the team. Quarterback Ryan Tannehill, whom Gase seemed to throw under the bus two weeks ago, took to Instagram to show his appreciation for his now-former head coach:

The firing of Gase was not shocking, but it was slightly jarring, as it seemed like Gase had a chance to keep his job. However, the Dolphins acted very quickly after their season-ending blowout loss to the Buffalo Bills, canning Gase.
Gase went 23-25 during his three years in Miami, leading the Dolphins to a 10-win season and a playoff appearance during his first year at the helm in 2016.
However, since then, things have not gone too well for the 40-year-old, as the Dolphins went just 6-10 last season and finished the 2018 campaign with seven wins.
Miami actually got off to a very impressive start this season, winning its first three games. But, things quickly spiraled downward, as the Dolphins proceeded to drop four of their next five games to fall to 4-4.
They briefly vaulted themselves back into playoff contention with a crazy last-second win over the New England Patriots in Week 14 to improve to 7-6, but they then lost three straight games to end the year, two of them being absolute routs.
Times have been tough in South Beach for the last two decades. The once-proud franchise has made the playoffs just twice since 2002 and has not won a playoff game since the 2000-01 campaign.
Miami has had just one winning season since 2009.
The ironic part about this Instagram post is that Tannehill could be next on the chopping block.
