Losing to a team that was winless in its last 20 games with a head coach embroiled in yet another off-field scandal, believe it or not, has caused the Miami Dolphins to hit rock bottom.
According to Jason La Canfora of CBS Sports, the Dolphins' locker room has grown increasingly frustrated with head coach Brian Flores amid the team's five-game losing streak, which included last week's dispiriting loss to Urban Meyer and the Jacksonville Jaguars. Owner Stephen Ross is reportedly concerned about the direction of the organization, too.
“There is a really negative vibe down there right now,” a source told CBS Sports. “A lot of players do not trust [Flores]. Flo thinks he is a player's coach with an open-door policy, but I know a number of players who would tell you they don't really think he is approachable enough or flexible.”
Flores, who cut his teeth as an assistant under Bill Belichick with the New England Patriots before landing Miami's head-coaching job in 2019, has apparently failed to establish a rapport with Dolphins players.
“There is still too much of that New England [stuff] going on. It just doesn't work,” the source told CBS. “There is a psychology to handling players and building a team, and you have to be able to connect and motivate. That's not the vibe there. It's pretty bad.”
Miami, 1-5, is hosting the Atlanta Falcons on Sunday.
