Duke freshman Zion Williamson suffered an untimely knee injury 33 seconds into a rivalry matchup against North Carolina. While he was quickly ruled out for the remainder of the game, the predicted top pick of this upcoming NBA Draft got some support from former President Barack Obama.

“Zion Williamson seems like an outstanding young man as well as an outstanding basketball player,” said Obama, taking to Twitter shortly after the game went final. “Wishing him a speedy recovery.”

Obama sat in the front row and was often captured in different angles of the broadcast, hoping to see the greatest show in college basketball like the rest of a sold-out Cameron Indoor Stadium in Durham.

Williamson was hurt attempting a half-spin on UNC's Luke Maye, bursting through his shoe and turning the ball over, which caused him to injure his knee and resulted in the first points of the game:

Obama himself was in disbelief, even pointing out “his shoe broke” shortly after the play took place:

Without Williamson, Duke struggled to keep pace against a North Carolina team that kept finding success in the paint, racing to an 88-72 win after shooting 50.7 percent thanks to Maye's cool hand.

Duke head coach Mike Krzyzewski said it was a knee sprain that caused his star's exit, but there are still more tests he must undergo before a proper diagnosis is made.
