Dwight Howard made his presence known in front of his hometown fans early in their season opener, scoring the first points of the Atlanta Hawks‘ season with an emphatic put-back slam in a 114-99 win against the Washington Wizards.

Kent Bazemore took a mid-range fadeaway that missed short, as Howard broke free of Marcin Gortat and collected the offensive rebound, only to put it back home on his way down. Check it out.

Howard looked revitalized in his first game as a Hawk and dominated the Wizards on the glass, tallying up 11 points and 19 rebounds along with three blocks and a steal to round out a great season-opening performance.
