Philadelphia Eagles wide receiver DeSean Jackson has been ruled out for his team's Week 5 matchup against the New York Jets due to an abdominal strain, according to Reuben Frank of NBC Sports Philadelphia.

Jackson originally suffered the injury during the Eagles' Week 2 loss to the Atlanta Falcons and has been sidelined ever since. He logged eight catches for 154 yards and a couple of touchdowns during his team's season-opening win over the Washington Redskins.

Now in his second stint in Philadelphia, Jackson signed with the club back in March.

He spent the 2018 campaign with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, playing in 12 games and catching 41 passes for 774 yards and four scores.

The 32-year-old, who played his collegiate football at the University of California, was originally selected by the Eagles in the second round (49th pick overall) of the 2008 NFL Draft.

Jackson spent the first six years of his career in Philly, making three Pro Bowl appearances. His best season came in 2013, when he hauled in 82 receptions for 1,332 yards while reaching the end zone nine times.

He then joined the Washington Redskins for three seasons before linking up with the Buccaneers for two years.

Since his first go-around in Philadelphia, Jackson has had difficulty staying healthy, as he has not played a single 16-game campaign since 2013 as a result of a variety of different injuries.

Jackson has posted just one 1,000-yard season since 2015.

The Eagles have gotten off to a 2-2 start, most recently topping the Green Bay Packers last Thursday. They sit one game behind the Dallas Cowboys for first place in the NFC East.
