Philadelphia Eagles quarterback is still recovering from a back issue that caused him to miss the final five games of the 2018 campaign plus the playoffs, but the general consensus is that he will be just fine for the 2019 opener.

But will he be ready for organized team activities?

Eagles head coach Doug Pederson would not say one way or the other. While he has been encouraged by Wentz's progress, Pederson does not know if the signal-caller will be cleared to participate in organized team activities on May 21, according to Jeff McLane of The Philadelphia Inquirer.

This marks the second straight year that Wentz has had to recover from a significant injury.

In 2017, Wentz tore his ACL in Week 14 and ended up missing the remainder of the season. Of course, Nick Foles stepped in for Wentz and went on to lead Philadelphia to its first-ever Super Bowl title, but Wentz was an MVP candidate before his injury.

Foles once again relieved Wentz in 2018 and actually led the Eagles to an upset win over the Chicago Bears in the Wild Card Round of the playoffs before falling to the New Orleans Saints in the Divisional Round the following week.

The Eagles then opted to let Foles walk in free agency earlier this offseason, as he went on to sign with the Jacksonville Jaguars.

During Wentz's time on the field this past season, he threw for 3,074 yards, 21 touchdowns and seven interceptions while completing 69.6 percent of his passes and posting a passer rating of 102.2.
