The Philadelphia Eagles took a step back with a 27-21 loss to the upstart Tampa Bay Buccaneers on Sunday afternoon. Compounding the defeat, running back Jay Ajayi exited the contest early with a back injury.

That issue has persisted into this week, as offensive coordinator Mike Groh voiced it will likely keep Ajayi out of the lineup for Week 3's matchup against the Indianapolis Colts, according to Reuben Frank of NBC Sports Philadelphia.

Ajayi rushed for 23 yards on seven carries with a touchdown prior to suffering the back injury in the second quarter 0f Sunday's game. He was able to walk off the field and into the locker room under his own power.

The Eagles don't appear too concerned with the situation, but Ajayi's ailment will more than likely prevent him from playing Week 3.

The Eagles' backfield is also dealing with an injury to Darren Sproles, who is having some issues with his hamstrings. This likely opens the door for second-year running back Corey Clement to step in as the starter in an increased role.

Clement has proven to be a factor in both the running and passing game when given the opportunity. Het put that on display against the Buccaneers, rushing for 30 yards on six carries including a 15-yard touchdown run while hauling in five catches for 55 receiving yards.

Philadelphia will likely give Clement the first shot, but Wendell Smallwood could also factor into the equation with his similar skillset out of the backfield. Smallwood rushed for 28 yards on seven carries in Week 2, which is a role he should expand upon this upcoming Sunday.
