The Philadelphia Eagles may be interested in signing running back Kareem Hunt this offseason. The maligned 23-year-old ball carrier has reportedly drawn interest from a number of teams around the league, even with his off-the-field issues.

According to ESPN's Adam Schefter, the former Kansas City Chiefs player could have a job ā€œsooner rather than later,ā€ so if we're just talking about Hunt in a backfield alone, then he makes perfect sense in Philly.

He was released by the Chiefs on Nov. 30 after the video surfaced and is on the commissioner's exempt list, so he would need to be reinstated before he could sign with another team.

Hunt was selected to a Pro Bowl in his rookie season in 2017 and has rushed for 2,151 yards and 15 touchdowns in his two-year career.

The defending Super Bowl Champion Eagles were bounced from the NFL Playoffs by the New Orleans Saints just two weeks ago, and it mainly had to do with the lack of depth in their running game. The team had an inordinate amount of injuries this season, which exposed a completely new flaw in their system.

With Darren Sproles likely on the verge of retirement, and no other standalone back in the fold, then it is probably time for GM Howie Roseman to take a gander at what's out there. Preferably a No. 1 runner who can withstand the contact that is included with an entire season.

Kareem Hunt just may be the right man for the job, that is, if everything can be hashed out properly.
