Not everyone's happy with the direction Konami is taking for eFootball. While the game itself will be completely free-to-play, most of the game's content – including multiple game modes, additional teams, and the ability to make your own teams – will come in as DLC packages. This locks out a lot of content behind microtransactions, and people may end up paying more just to access all content than what they would have had eFootball came out as a full game instead. What's more, Konami has allowed people to purchase loot boxes for the game at launch, when in fact these loot boxes won't be available until months later.

Regardless, eFootball will be taking up EA's FIFA 22 head-on. The two are still actively competing in the game space for dominance in the soccer video game market. It's going to be interesting which of the two will be patronized by fans more – or rather, which one will end up with more infamy.
