Oklahoma City Thunder forward/center Enes Kanter is now wanted by the Turkish government as they have issued a warrant for his arrest, according to pro-government newspaper Sabah, as cited by AFP.

The newspaper cites that the government of Turkey has opened an investigation into Kanter's alleged “membership of an armed terrorist organization” due to his fervent support for exiled Turkish leader Fethullah Gulen, who has been a longtime sworn enemy of the government of Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan.

Upon finding out of said warrant, Kanter nearly immediately replied on Twitter with “you can't catch me, don't waste your breath,” according to a translation by Reuters.

Kanter was detained at a Romanian airport last weekend after the president allegedly had given orders to cancel his passport, but he was allowed to continue his flight home hours later.

Ever since returning to the United States, the Thunder's sixth man has been tirelessly pursuing American citizenship.

Kanter has gone through a lot since going public about his political views — being disowned by his parents and having almost all contact cut from his family and friends. His loved ones have been threatened with being sent to jail for making contact with the 25-year old Thunder star. His relentless opposition of Erdogan has also brought him death threats and a probable snub from the Turkish national team for future FIBA championships.
