Former heavyweight boxing champion Evander Holyfield had more than a few things to say after the exhibition between Mike Tyson and Roy Jones Jr.

Holyfield issued a press release targeting Tyson for a fight of his own. He also chastised “Iron Mike” for taking a “good local opponent” in Jones.

The full press release was far more scathing.

“Real Deal” said Tyson was initially scheduled to face him in the return fight, but the Tyson camp instead opted to face Jones.

Holyfield said he understood after watching the exhibition why Tyson wanted to face Jones instead, suggesting “Iron Mike” needed a “tune-up” for his return to the ring. He then concluded by calling Tyson out and saying “No more excuses” before signing off.

The full statement can be seen below.

The fight between Mike Tyson and Roy Jones was rather unsatisfying for boxing fans.

Jones is one of the greatest in the history of the sport, a champion who went up and down multiple weight classes to win and defend titles. But he looked utterly out of sorts against Tyson, who thoroughly dominated just about all aspects of the bout.

Yet, when the scorecards were handed in, the fight ended in a draw.

Still, the exhibition drew a ton of pay-per-view buys and hype in anticipation for Tyson's return, and “Iron Mike” seems motivated to make one more comeback attempt.

Tyson also just got a whole lot more motivation from Evander Holyfield, who seems intent on making a dream fight between the two legends into a reality.
