Since the Atlanta Falcons worked out a new five-year, $150 million extension with star quarterback Matt Ryan, things have shifted toward wide receiver Julio Jones's contract situation. It has led to Jones as a no-show through the team's voluntary organized workouts.

All of this hasn't pushed the Falcons to voice any concerns about the All-Pro wideout. Team owner Arthur Blank is even stating that it is simply part of the process, according to Vaughn Mcclure of ESPN.

Jones is currently in the third year of his five-year, $71.2 million deal that has roughly $39.2 million remaining on the contract. He is on tap for roughly over $14 million for the 2018 campaign, which at that salary would put him as the eighth highest-paid player at his position. There have been several other players over the last few months that have received more lucrative annual salaries such as Sammy Watkins, DaVante Adams, Mike Evans, and Jarvis Landry.

This may have pushed Jones to look into desiring a pay raise to his current contract given that he is still producing at an elite level that would warrant him being above each of these players in that regard.

He is coming off yet another highly productive campaign where he finished with on 88 receptions for 1,444 receiving yards, which marked the fifth time in his career that he has posted at least 1,000 receiving yards. He had also joined Roddy White (six) as the only players in team history to have at least five seasons with at least 1,000 receiving yards.

The Falcons have shown that they value Jones' services by working out his current deal a few years ago. However, given the increase in lucrative deals given to wide receivers around the league, it has reasonably seen that number rise once again.

This has set up what should be a quick process toward working out a new constructed deal for their star wideout and cornerstone player.
