With the Atlanta Falcons out of the playoff picture that has been some questions if the team should shutdown Julie Jones or Matt Ryan. Falcons coach Dan Quinn thinks it's a fair question to preserve their franchise players, but it's not something that he is interested in doing.

“I recognize fair question, but no. Part of playing and competing is going for it in the biggest way. So we’ll always take that approach. Now for a player that is injured like Julio (shoulder), but not just him, for any of the players, to make sure, we’re always gonna make the best decisions for them.’’

This is a fair question both ways, and there is a good case for both sides of the argument. On one side of the argument, Matt Ryan dealt with an ankle injury and he has been sacked 15 times over the last two games. Even though it's fully healed getting hit that many times can really hurt a player.

Jones is also dealing with a shoulder injury and it's hard to imagine he is going to be 100 percent before the season ends so it could make sense to let their star wide receiver get some extra rest.

On the other hand, Dan Quinn and the rest of the coaching staff are trying to keep their jobs for next season and every win is important in making that happen.

Quinn can rest the players for the future of the Falcons but he might not be involved, so it makes sense he wants the best players on the field.
