As the Atlanta Falcons currently hold the No. 10 seed in the NFC, quarterback Matt Ryan is still not throwing in the towel on his team's playoff odds.

The Falcons remained on the outside looking in with the NFC playoff picture following their 29-21 road win over the Carolina Panthers in Week 14. A loss would have moved them closer to being officially eliminated from playoff contention, but instead, they provided a much-needed lifeline to their playoff aspirations with the victory.

As the Falcons head into their upcoming crucial road matchup with the San Francisco 49ers in Week 15, Ryan sees that every game is now of high importance for his team at this point in the campaign. In the big picture, Ryan views this clash with the 49ers as a pivotal one, which he touched on during a press conference ahead of the contest.

“It’s very significant,” Ryan said. “For us as a team, they’re all going to be this way moving forward if we handle our business. We understand the position we’re in, but we also know, you can’t control the next three games. It’s really just about taking care of business this week.

“Extending our opportunity to be relevant. I’m excited about that. It’s fun to be this time of the year, to be in games that matter and games that have consequences, and I’m excited for that opportunity.”

Due to just how chaotic the playoff picture in the NFC is heading into Week 15, there is a chance that the Falcons could come away from the week holding a playoff spot. At the least, they would first need to pick up a win over the 49ers in order to help make this scenario possibly come to fruition.
