Kyle Pitts has been everything the Atlanta Falcons have hoped for, becoming a Pro Bowler in just his first NFL season. His 1,026 receiving yards and 68 receptions were among the very best ranks across rookies and tight ends around the league. He punctuated his stellar rookie campaign with a touchdown reception in the Pro Bowl.

This score was Pitt's first catch of the game. He ended the day with two catches and 11 receiving yards. While the Falcons' young star scoring in the Pro Bowl is fun, it also has a bit of irony to it.

Pitts scored as many touchdowns in the Pro Bowl as he did in the regular season despite playing in all 17 games. The only time he scored a touchdown was when the Falcons faced the New York Jets in England. The lack of scoring didn't hinder his Pro Bowl case, though. Pitts even poked some fun at himself after the game.

Being the Falcons' big-game passing target replacement following the trade of Julio Jones gives Pitts some very big shoes to fill. Starting off his career by being a great accumulator of yards but not touchdowns is a very ironic start to his career, as that is precisely what Jones was among the elite wide receivers in the league.

While the Falcons' future remains uncertain, Pitts will likely be a huge piece of their future. No matter which direction they go, they will already have a young pass-catcher who can shoulder a huge responsibility in the offense. Atlanta may be at a crossroads with Matt Ryan, their aging franchise quarterback, as trading him seems like the best course of action. If they opt to replace him with a young QB, they will already have a star in place for him to throw to.
