It did not take long. The Todd Gurley sweepstakes is already over. The Atlanta Falcons are scooping up the running back on a low risk, high reward one-year deal.

This news comes by way of the mean streets of Twitter and a fancy-pants reporter:

Heavens to Betsy, if that doesn’t put your underwear in a bunch, nothing else will.

For those living under a rock for the last few hours — and, truly, it’s only been a few hours — the Los Angeles Rams stunned a nation by released Todd Gurley on Thursday. After that, nearly every National Football League team under the sun was rumored to be signing the young back.

Despite having issues with injuries, Gurley is still a valuable back. Obviously, it’s why the Atlanta Falcons are taking a shot with the workhorse.

Time will tell how this works out for everyone involved, but given the one-year nature of the deal, this certainly seems like a prove-it deal for Gurley, and a relatively no-risk one for the Falcons.

Nevertheless, this is a huge move that will make a lot of headlines heading into a weekend in which no one is allowed to leave their house. Be safe everyone.

The NFL offseason… it never sleeps.
