Final Fantasy VIII Remaster PlayStation Now Release Date: When is FF8 Remastered arriving on PS Now?
Final Fantasy VIII Remastered will be hitting its release date on the PlayStation Now subscription service next week. This is the second of five Final Fantasy game releases to make it to PlayStation Now, and follows the release of Final Fantasy VII earlier this month.
Final Fantasy VIII Remaster PlayStation Now Release Date: October 5, 2021
The official PlayStation Blog post on the game details the Final Fantasy VIII Remaster with the following:
“It is a time of war. The Republic of Galbadia, under the influence of the sorceress Edea, mobilizes its great armies against the other nations of the world. Squall and other members of SeeD, an elite mercenary force, join hands with Rinoa, a resistance fighter, to fight against Galbadia’s tyrannical rule and to prevent Edea from fulfilling her ultimate goal.”
Final Fantasy VIII occupies a unique place in the mainline pantheon of the renowned JRPG series, as it featured several gameplay features not yet seen (or repeated) after its release. One of these is the divisive junction system, which allowed magic spells to be used only after they have been previously drawn from an enemy. Additionally, the game boasts one of the most gripping opening cinematics, which was incredible for its time and is still intriguing until today.
The next three mainline Final Fantasy games to be released on the PlayStation Now streaming service will be Final Fantasy IX, Final Fantasy X | X-2 HD Remaster, and Final Fantasy XII: The Zodiac Age. For more details, check out our article here.
