An untarnished 13-win record will often make a team climb atop the College Football Playoff standings. Unfortunately, this was not the case for Mike Norvell and the Florida State football squad. The Seminoles came off huge wins against teams but just could not make the cut alongside programs like Alabama, Washington, Michigan, and Texas. Although, there could be a reason behind all of this inside the system. It may even involve their quarterbacks Brock Glenn, Tate Rodemaker, and Jordan Travis.
Mike Norvell had to make do with the available offensive engines in the Florida State Football squad. Jordan Travis went down early in the season which prompted the Seminoles to start Tate Rodemaker. Everything was going well until it was not. The second-stringer would eventually also go down which meant Brock Glenn was up next in taking the quarterback role against Louisville.
Apparently, the College Football Playoff committee saw this and used it as sort of a disqualifier for the Florida State football program, per Heather Dinch of ESPN. Understandably, fans were livid. Glenn only put up eight completions on 21 passing attempts. His 55 yards might have also not fully carried the offense just like the other two quarterbacks. These struggles, along with the severe lack of first downs in the first half, made it easier for the committee to choose another program to enter the College Football Playoffs picture.
The fight is not over for the Seminoles. They still have the Orange Bowl coming up which will have them face the Georgia football squad led by the quick-witted schematics of Kirby Smart. The call may have been justified or not in the eyes of people but this Florida football squad will surely play with a chip on their shoulder.
