Fortnite players briefly had access to a Battle Pass reward even if they didn't own the Battle Pass. The item, called the Wild Lobby Track, became available in the Fortnite Shop for 200 V-Bucks. However, Epic Games recognized the error, removing the item from lockers and refunding affected users.

A Reddit thread spotted the error, first reported by EuroGamer earlier today. Keen-eyed players recognized one of the items being sold in the Fortnite Item Shop to be the Wild Lobby Track. It's a cosmetic item that allows users to customize the music they hear in the game's lobby. Redditors pointed out that the Wild Lobby Track is a Rank 70 reward in the current Battle Pass. They reminded the other users that Epic promises in their FAQs that the cosmetic rewards earned from the Fortnite Battle Pass will never be made available in the shop.

Epic quickly acknowledged the issue, pulling out the item from the Fortnite Item Shop as soon as possible. They also removed the item from the lockers of players who have purchased it in the shop while it was there. In return, Epic refunded them the cost of their payment, which was worth 200 V-Bucks.

BATTLE PASS ITEMS MISTAKES IN THE PAST

This won't be the first time that Epic made a mistake with their Battle Pass rewards. Previously, fans accused Epic of selling a re-worked skin of a character previously locked behind the Battle Pass. They also attempted to sell a re-colored version of a pet dog in the shop. While these previous instances were obviously attempts by Epic to find an acceptable way to sell their Battle Pass items on the shop, it doesn't seem to be the same case here for the Wild Lobby Track.

This time, the Fortnite Shop offered the exact same item on the Battle Pass. It feels like an honest mistake, this time around. It may have been initially planned to be a Fortnite Item Shop exclusive, before being included as a Battle Pass reward last minute. Someone somewhere just forgot to remove it from the Item Shop after being included in the Battle Pass.
