League of Legends recently announced the Hall of Legends, with fans cheering at its (understandable) first inductee: Faker. What fans did not cheer for, however, was the price of the Hall of Legends Faker Ahri skin that arrived alongside the announcement.

The Faker Ahri Skin Costs More Than $450

In a recent announcement, Faker was inducted as the first member of the Hall of Legends, which celebrates his career as a League of Legends player. Following that announcement, they introduced the Hall of Legends 2024 event, which brings with it a battle pass and the notorious Ahri skin.

For context, skins in League of Legends usually cost 1350 RP, or around $10. Legendary skins would be worth 1820 RP, while Ultimate skins cost 3250 RP. If those seem expensive, the Risen Legend Ahri skin is even more so.

To get the skin, players had to pay 5,430 RP, which is around $40. Granted, it also gives the player the battle pass and some other exclusive emotes and borders, but $40 is still a steep price to pay. Sadly, it only gets worse.

The next Faker Ahri skin, titled the Immortalized Legend Ahri, costs almost six times that at 32,430 RP, or around $250. It gives players access to an upgraded version of the Ahri Skin, complete with special visual effects, transformations, and more.

The package also includes unique borders, exclusive icons and emotes, and more. While this may seem like a lot of items, players are already finding it difficult to believe that the skin is worth it. What's even worse is that there is yet another tier for players to buy.

The final and most expensive package that players could buy is the Signature Immortalized Legend Collection, priced at a whopping 59,260 RP, or more than $450 (around $456 if my math is correct). This package includes an even more upgraded version of the skin, various other cosmetics, the battle pass and all of its contents, and more.

This is more than double what players had to spend to get the Dark Cosmic Erasure Jhin Chroma, which was almost $200. Players reacted negatively to the Chroma's launch then, so it's even more understandable that players, especially Faker fans, were outraged at the price of the Ahri skins.

Faker Fans And Players Outraged At The Price

Faker fans and League of Legends players quickly went to X (formerly Twitter) to express their outrage and irritation at some players started calling “the first macrotransaction”.

Others have started bringing up that it's ironic that Riot would introduce a vary overpriced skin bundle, when Faker himself is known for not using skins when playing in tournaments (aside from 9 instances over his more than ten year career).

Players have even brought up the fact that despite his success, Faker has always remained frugal, even digging up a clip of Faker calling a 7,500 KRW (around $5.5) bowl of noodles being sold at the T1 Base Camp “so expensive”. Fans also brought up how Faker does not want people to donate to him when he streams.

Understandably so, players have also started memeing the whole situation, as well as telling other players to ban Ahri all the time once the skin becomes available for purchase.

We will just have to wait and see whether or not Rio will go through with this pricing scheme, or if they will take it down a notch. We can only hope.
