Korean League of Legends powerhouse Gen.G officially declares the release of their support player Kim “Kellin” Hyeong-gyu in their roster via Twitter. The 19-year old has been a part of the team's 1st place finish in the LCK 2020 Spring Tournament, where he acquired his first player of the game award.

Kellin joined the team last December 2019 as a substitute for Kim “Life” Jeong-min. Though he has yet to garner regular playing time for the team, he has been a solid contributor as seen with his performances as Taric, Bard, Braum, and Thresh, as well as his player of the game accolades in those opportunities given to him. Both Life and Kellin have been competing for a starting berth with the former showing more consistency due to the amount of playing time received. Though Kellin has impressed with some of his outings, he wasn't given the opportunity to be involved in the team's final roster for Worlds 2020.

Given the surprise factor he contributes, teams could definitely benefit from the potential he exhibits. Kellin's departure could finally give him the opportunity to move away from Life's shadow, where he can finally blossom as a consistent starter.

This isn't the only move that the team conducted in the transfer window as Gen.G made some bold moves in letting go of their distinguished coaches, Im “Tom” Jae-hyeon and Yeo “TrAce” Chang-dong a few days ago. They even showed their support to Life by extending his contract until 2022. The team is hoping that their roster changes will allow them to bounce back from their disastrous sweep from the hands of G2 Esports.
