Crucial news for PlayStation fans: Sony announced that the PS5 will only be available for online purchase on launch day.
The PlayStation 5 (PS5), Sony's next-generation console, is coming out on November 12 (or 19 overseas). In a blog post, Sony Senior Director Sid Shuman announced that there will be no in-store for the console at launch. This is in response to the coronavirus pandemic, in an effort to prevent transmissions through contact in-stores.

The same blog post declared that pre-purchases from local stores will still receive their console on launch day. They will have to do so while practicing social distancing. This means stores will assign schedules for pick-ups at designated locations, at the discretion of the stores.
Loyal PlayStation users will be able to enjoy their PlayStation 4 (PS4) games on the PS5, Sony previously confirmed. PS4 titles will work on the PS5 as long as the owner uses the same PlayStation Network accounts (if digital) or still have the Blu-Ray discs for the PS4.
The PS5 is Sony's horse for the next console generation, going up against Microsoft's XBOX Series S/X. The PS5 launches with two versions: a standard version retailing at $499.99 and a digital-only version retailing at $399.99. The two consoles will release almost simultaneously, with the PS5's rival launching on November 10.
