The PlayStation 5 (PS5) ushered in the next-generation of gaming, but not everyone can get one.

The PS5 is one of the most-anticipated consoles in gaming history. It's understandable that many people would want to have one. But regardless of whether or not you have money to buy one, it's not a guarantee that you'll get one. Production just couldn't keep up with the demand, and many stores have ended up running out of stock of the product. Worse, scalpers smelled blood in the water, and they've contributed to the supply issues of the PS5.

Thankfully, a PS5 Simulator is now out, allowing people to experience what it's like to own a PS5 without having to buy one.

PS5 Simulator for those without a PS5

The PS5 Simulator will let you experience what others did on launch. The console arrives at your virtual doorsteps in a shipping box. You get to experience the full unboxing experience – including cable management and wi-fi router problems.

The software is free to download on Windows, a project made by a single person, Alex Grade. The simulator even lets you collect snacks for you to eat while you're waiting for your games to load. The sad fact is, you can't actually play games. You do get PS5 discs which you can insert into the console. You'll see the game loading up on the TV screen, but it'll just go straight to the credits once it loaded up.

If you want to get the Simulator for yourself, make sure that your PC can handle the minimum spec requirements (not that it's that high):

  • Do not have a PS5
  • Windows 7,8,10 or later
  • Quad-core Intel or AMD processor, 2.5 GHz or faster
  • NVIDIA GeForce 470 GTX or AMD Radeon 6870 HD series card or higher
  • 4 GB RAM
