Cloud9 just recently made two headline acquisitions to bolster their ranks in the competitive Valorant scene by adding Chris “Dream” Myrick as head coach and Jornen “MoonChopper” Nishiyama as strategic coach. They are both tasked to mentor organization's recently formed all-female Valorant team, Cloud9 white. The announcements were made via Twitter.

Both individuals responded by expressing their eagerness to be involved with the organization.

Prior to his arrival to the team, Dream was an Overwatch content creator and an assistant coach for the Houston Outlaws. His arrival to Cloud9 marks his transition to Valorant's competitive scene. On the other hand MoonChopper has already been involved in the Valorant scene coaching Morning Light. MoonChopper was able to bring Morning Light to a first place finish in low-tier tournaments specifically Matrix Valorant Legends and Nerd Street Gamers Open.

Cloud9's decision to form an all-female Valorant team was part of their campaign to support gender equity in the esports scene. The roster currently consists of Alexis “alexis” Guarrasi, Annie “AnnieDro” Roberts, Jasmine “Jazzyk1ns” Manankil, katsumi, and Melanie “meL” Capone, who will serve as the team's captain. The in-game roles for each of the members have yet to be decided.

The team began their competitive campaign in Riot's NSG Tournament qualifiers where they got swept by The Slimy Boogermen. The club is hoping that the recent coaching additions will change their fortunes.

With the Valorant scene trying to establish its esports roots it made sense for Cloud9 to make the necessary preparations seeing the potential that the game offers in the market.
