With the VCT Asia-Pacific Last Chance Qualifier now over, we now have the first team headed to Champions through the different Valorant LCQ tournaments that are currently ongoing. In this article, we look at which of the teams are still up for the running for Champions and will continuously update this article to update the different VCT LCQ winners – effectively making this also a list of the teams qualified for VCT Champions 2022.
VCT LCQ Winners headed to Champions
Asia-Pacific LCQ – BOOM Esports
Indonesian team BOOM Esports will be joining Paper Rex and XERXIA in representing the Asia-Pacific in Istanbul this September, as BOOM Esports eliminated fellow Indonesian team ONIC Esports in the APAC LCQ Finals.
East Asia LCQ – EDward Gaming
The Chinese teams dashed the hopes of Korean and Japanese fans as they absolutely dominated their competition in the East Asia Last Chance Qualifiers. EDward Gaming completely dominated without losing a single map, making them one of the more exciting teams to watch out for in Champions.
North America LCQ – 100 Thieves
Sadly, Sentinels hopium wasn't enough and the team was eventually eliminated in the lower bracket finals. But that wasn't surprising at all at this point in Sentinels' life. But what's surprising, at least compared to Sentinels losing out in the lower bracket, is The Guard losing in the Grand Finals. After being sent down to the lower bracket by FaZe Clan, 100 Thieves eliminated Sentinels and Cloud9 before having their revenge against FaZe Clan with an amazing 3-0 sweep. Then, apart from Sentinels, 100 Thieves is just the other team aside from Sentinels who beat The Guard on a map – with a 3-0 win in the Grand Finals.
South America LCQ – FURIA Esports || KRU Esports
It's not really surprising to see both FURIA and KRU here, with the two teams meeting in the upper bracket finals. FURIA even was sent down to the lower bracket for what looked like a redundancy, as they went on to sweep their lower bracket competition to also qualify for champions. The two join LOUD and Leviatan in the Champions stage.
Europe, Middle East, and Africa LCQ – Team Liquid
It's official – Acend will not be returning this year to defend their championship in this year's VCT Champions. Acend didn't even win a single round in this LCQ. Team Liquid became the eventual champions of the EMEA LCQ, bouncing back from the lower bracket after being sent down there by M3 Champions in the upper bracket finals. They took their revenge swiftly, too, as they went 3-1 against M3C after losing only Map 1 to them.
And that's it for the teams that qualified for Champions through the LCQ. To recap, here are the teams that will be comprising VCT Champions this year:
- OpTic Gaming
- XSET
- FunPlus Phoenix
- Fnatic
- LOUD
- Leviatan
- DRX
- ZETA DIVISION
- Paper Rex
- XERXIA
- 100 Thieves
- Team Liquid
- KRU Esports
- FURIA Esports
- EDward Gaming
- BOOM Esports
