The New York Giants have seemingly found the solution to their long-term quarterback problems in the form of Daniel Jones. The New York crowd was so enthralled with what the former Blue Devil had to offer that they already anointed him with a nickname all his own: Danny Dimes.

ESPN's Jordan Raanan talked about how the Danny Dimes monicker originated and what the quarterback himself thought of the nickname. He said that he couldn't complain with what he got.

“Yeah, I've heard it a little bit more recently,” said Jones, who exploded onto the NFL scene Sunday with a first start that included four touchdowns, one of which was the game winner with less than two minutes remaining in a win against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. “I don't know. It's all right, I guess. There could be worse nicknames.”

It's a wonderful nickname for a QB who has done nothing but impress in his first start in the NFL. According to the article, John Messina was the man who first came up with Danny Dimes back in April.

The tweet has since stuck and is used by the team and the fans to call their beloved playcaller.

However, the situation wasn't this peachy when he was selected sixth overall in the 2019 Draft. In fact, Giants fans were fuming with the pick, thinking that they could have used it on more important positions.

Daniel Jones' father, Steve, pointed out that his son was focused on proving his doubters wrong and winning them over.

“What his comments said to me was that he was grounded enough to do this without letting all that affect him,” the elder Jones said, via Yahoo! Sports. “He seems to have a pretty good understanding of when and how much of what everyone else is saying he needs to concern himself with — and how to keep that from getting in the way of what he needs to do.”

That's exactly what Danny Dimes did, and that's how he won over a lot of hearts in the Big Apple.
