New York Giants quarterback Eli Manning could find himself on a list he'd probably prefer to stay off of. The two-time Super Bowl winning quarterback is only one loss away from tying Hall of Fame quarterback Brett Favre for second-most losses all time by a starting quarterback.
Favre had a record of 186-112 while Manning holds a 115-111 record. Unfortunately for Manning, the wins will most likely not come close to what Favre had accomplished in his career. However, the loss column is much more likely as the Giants have struggled on and off all season.
Manning could very well reach the all-time losses record that Vinny Testaverde holds with 123 career losses as a starting quarterback. Pending Manning's future, Testaverde's record may be safe until another unfortunate starting quarterback comes around. Although he'd probably like it if someone took the record off of his hands.
According to Michael David Smith of Pro Football Talk, only one active quarterback in the NFL is close to Manning's loss total.
“The only active quarterback who has close to as many losses as Manning is Drew Brees, who has a career record of 152-108 as a starter.”
Smith goes on to state how superior the Saints are in comparison to the Giants and unless something drastic changes, Brees is likely safe from coming close to the unfortunate record.
If Manning continues to play for the Giants under their apparent need to rebuild in some areas, the losses may come a bit quicker than he would hope for.
