Golden Tate finally made his season debut for the New York Giants after being suspended for his testing positive for performance-enhancing drugs. However, his debut was a quiet one in a terrible defeat to the Minnesota Vikings.

He had a quiet day for the Giants as he was only targeted thrice for 13 receiving yards. There was little to no question that the wideout, who used to get a lot of targets, was frustrated with his involvement in the Giants offense.

Pro Football Talk's Michael David Smith wrote about his season debut, and his response was understandably predictable.

“You know, I hope not,” Tate said, via Matt Lombardo of NJ.com. “I hope not.”

“I want to be out there as much as possible,” Tate said. “We’ll see. It’s the first week back for me. I hope my role increases. But, we’ll see.”

However, it would be unfair to blame it all on the offense. The Giants were severely depleted on defense and were at the mercy of Kirk Cousins and Adam Thielen for much of the game.

However, it would do the Giants a lot of good if they increase his workload with the team. He's produced at least 700 yards since 2013 and is a reliable option on the pass.

With a young and promising QB in Daniel Jones, they need all of the top receiving talents they can get their hands on. Tate definitely provides that in spades, and he'll be an important key for the team throughout the season.

However, he needs to get more targets in order to return to form.
