New York Giants offensive coordinator Jason Garrett touched on his team's upcoming matchup against his former team, the Dallas Cowboys, during his media session on Thursday.

Garrett and the Cowboys parted ways in January, ending a long-term relationship. He had served with the team as a coach and coordinator since 2007, when he joined the coaching ranks as Dallas' offensive coordinator under Wade Phillips. In total, Garrett spent nine and a half seasons as the Cowboys' head coach after becoming the interim head coach in 2010 and then getting the full-time job in 2011. Notably, he was one of the longest-tenured coaches in the NFL until his contract was not renewed after the 2019 season.

Garrett noted that he values his time with the Cowboys. However, he also made it clear that he is focused on his new opportunity with the Giants:

“The biggest thing we’re all focused on is what we can do to help the New York Giants play as well as we can play. It was a great time in my life,” Garrett said, via Jon Machota of The Athletic. “I’m forever appreciative of that, forever grateful of that. But I’m excited about the opportunity and trying to help this team get better.”

The Giants will face the Cowboys in Dallas on Sunday. Kickoff is slated for 4:25 p.m. ET, with CBS having live broadcast coverage. Both teams have struggled to find a rhythm through the early stages of this season. Dallas is currently 1-3. The Giants, who have averaged only 11.8 points per game in four outings, are still winless (0-4).

Let's see how Garrett fares against his former team.
