New England Patriots head coach Bill Belichick recently made headlines by scoffing at the notion that Chicago Bears linebacker Khalil Mack was even in the same class as the great Lawrence Taylor. And it appears Belichick has someone who agrees with that take: Lawrence Taylor.

Per TMZ, the Giants legend gave the empathic thumbs up to the Patriots head coach's flattering comments about him.

“What he said!! The mold was made never to be duplicated!!!,” Taylor said.

Mack, who became the highest paid defensive player in NFL history this offseason, is proving to be worth every penny with the Bears. He’s been an absolutely disruptive force on a Bears defense that’s been among the best in the league through six weeks.

Mack has already picked up three Pro Bowls, two First-Team All-Pros and a Defensive Player of the Year award through his first four seasons in the league. And at the rate he's going, he looks set to rack up a lot more accolades later in his career.

At the same time, though, Taylor remains a fairly high bar to reach. Apart from his terrific resume — 10-time Pro Bowler, eight-time First-Team All-Pro, two-time Super Bowl champion, last defensive MVP — the impact he had on the field was simply remarkable.

Perhaps Mack can still prove Belichick and Taylor wrong in time and eventually build up a body of work that would legitimately put him in the conversation. But until then, LT deserves to be considered on a class of his own.
