After the New York Giants fired head coach Pat Shurmur earlier this morning, the team is now in the middle of looking for a brand new leader to head up the team coming into the 2020 season. According to NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport, they may be looking to Kansas City for help there.

According to Rapoport, the Giants have submitted a request to interview the Chiefs' offensive coordinator, Eric Bieniemy. While it’s unknown if the Chiefs would accept a request as of yet, the Giants will likely be hoping for an answer quickly. With the Chiefs currently having a bye in the 2019 NFL playoffs, the team is probably hoping to sit down with him before they continue on to other candidates.

Bieniemy is someone who has been getting head coaching buzz for a couple of years now, and that will only continue to grow after his 2019 stint with the Chiefs. With Patrick Mahomes continuing to play like a superstar, Bieniemy’s offense was on fire for most of the season, and he even had veteran quarterback Matt Moore looking extremely solid when Mahomes was out with an injury.

As the Giants prepare to find the coach that will presumably lead young players like Daniel Jones and Saquon Barkley into the future, Bieniemy could be a great choice.

Of course, it’s unknown if the OC would leave the comfortable confines of Kansas City. The Chiefs are one of the new powerhouses of the AFC, and will be perennial Super Bowl contenders as long as Mahomes is there.

It’ll be interesting to see if the Giants are able to pull him away from Kansas City, or if the Chiefs even allow him to leave.
