The New York Giants made a big splash in NFL free agency on Saturday when the team signed Pro-Bowl Wide Receiver Kenny Golladay to a lucrative 4-year, $72 million contract per Ian Rapoport of NFL Network:

Rapoport added full details of the contract, with Golladay getting $40 million guaranteed with a chance for the contract to be worth a total of $76 million with incentives and other bonuses.

Golladay will surely be an upgrade on what was a rather thin receiving corps for the Giants in the 2020 season. The team’s top two receivers were Darius Slayton and Sterling Shepard. Slayton produced the meager totals of 50 receptions, 751 receiving yards, and three touchdowns last year. While Shepard finished with 66 receptions for 656 yards and three touchdowns.

The 27-year-old Golladay made only five starts in the 2020 season with the Detroit Lions due to a lingering hip injury. The Giants have surely done their due diligence to ensure that quarterback Daniel Jones will have a healthy Golladay for the season.

The former third-round pick breakout season came in 2019 when he made his first career Pro Bowl on the back of 1,190 yards, 65 catches, and 11 touchdowns, which led all receivers. Those numbers were good enough for an impressive 18.3 yards per catch – third in the NFL that season.

As more and more free agency deals are agreed upon, the Giants did well to sign the best wide receivers available.
