The New York Giants were lambasted for taking Daniel Jones with the sixth overall pick in the NFL Draft back in April, but it's beginning to look like the Giants may have made a good decision.

Jones has looked terrific throughout the offseason, and in his preseason debut on Thursday night against the New York Jets, he was brilliant, completing all five of his passes for 67 yards and a touchdown during his lone drive.

Giants head coach Pat Shurmur was impressed with the quarterback during his first game, but he also was not shocked by Jones' performance:

“There weren't any incompletions. I'd say that's a pretty good job,” Shurmur said, according to Jordan Raanan of ESPN.com. “He's been checking off the boxes as we've went along. It seems to be surprising to people outside our building, but it's not to us.”

New York actually planned to send Jones back out for a second drive, but an hour-long weather delay ended his night.

As for what the rookie thought of his debut? He wasn't entirely pleased:

“I think overall I did some good things,” Jones said. “It was short, so I take that into account. I missed a couple of things. Could've been a little bit better with a couple things, so I'll focus on that. But good to just get out there for the first time.”

With Eli Manning entering the final year of his deal, Jones will likely take over as the starting quarterback in 2020, and it's entirely possible we see him under center at some point in 2019, as well.
