Eli Manning has been at the center of rumors all season long. It all started ahead of the NFL trade deadline, where many thought that the New York Giants would end up trying to move him. That didn't happen, so fans and media members alike had to find other ways to create drama surrounding him.

That's when the rumors about Manning being benched began surfacing. Heading into Week 13 against the Chicago Bears, Giants' head coach Pat Shurmur is sticking with Manning as his starting quarterback.

In his weekly press conference as shared by 247 Sports, Shurmur confirmed that Manning will start against the Bears this week.

“Eli Manning will be the starter against the Bears.”

Short and sweet for Shumur this week when answering the question about Manning. He has made it clear all season long that he will start the players that he feels will give the Giants the best chance to win games.

Manning has not had an awful season, despite all the negativity surrounding him. He has completed 69.1 percent of his pass attempts for 3,093 yards, 14 touchdowns, and seven touchdowns. The only issue that he has had has been putting the football in the end zone, but that isn't entirely his fault.

New York is currently 3-8 heading into this week's game against one of the best teams in the NFC. If they continue losing, the Giants are going to get one of the top picks in the 2019 NFL Draft. They could consider using that pick to target a quarterback that could replace Manning.

Expect to see Manning start the remainder of the season. He may have more competition next year, but for now he is obviously the best quarterback on the roster.
