The New York Giants used their No. 2 overall pick in the NFL Draft to get running back Saquon Barkley. Barkley was considered by many to be the best player in the draft as he provides potentially game-changing dynamism both in the ground and through the air.

Barkley believes that his impressive skill set has the potential to take a Giants offense that already had the likes of Eli Manning, Odell Beckham Jr., Sterling Shepard, and Evan Engram, to another level moving forward.

“The possibilities are there. The talent is there,” Barkley said per Matt Lombardo of NJ.com. You see those guys working out in the weight room, and it’s just like ‘wow’ … That’s Sterling Shepard. That’s Eli Manning. That’s Odell. Those guys are really talented. I believe I really have the potential to help. I have the potential to even take that offense two a whole other level.”

Barkley is certainly capable of providing another dimension that the Giants offense hasn’t had in a while. He’s easily the most talented running back they’ve had for some time and can finally get them going on the ground after some down years. That desire to jumpstart what has been a dormant running game likely factored significantly in the Giants’ decision to draft him.

However, Barkley showed in college that he has the ability to be a game-changer as a receiver as well. He believes he’s “more than just a running back” in the mold of a Le’Veon Bell. If he does prove that to be the case, he’ll likely succeed in taking a Giants offense that already has a good number of skill position talent to that next level this season.
