New York Giants running back Saquon Barkley took the NFL by storm after going No. 2 overall in 2018. However, Barkley has since failed to live up to the standard he set in his rookie campaign, with an ACL injury in 2020 not helping matters. Now set for a fifth season, Barkley is trying to regain his form and win back fans.

The Giants star took to Twitter on Saturday night to show that he's in great shape and is ready to dominate in 2022:

Of course, Giants fans will surely still be skeptical about Barkley heading into the upcoming season after he racked up just 593 rushing yards and 856 yards from scrimmage in 13 games in 2021. This came after he appeared in only two games in 2020 before tearing his ACL.

It's a far cry from his rookie campaign in which he rushed for 1,307 yards and 11 touchdowns while also catching 91 passes for 721 yards and four scores. That put him over 2,000 total yards from scrimmage. That number slipped to 1,441 in 2019, though he did that in 13 games and was still productive overall.

But after these last two seasons, Barkley's future with the Giants is in question. He's no stranger to trade rumors, and it's hard to imagine New York giving him a lucrative contract. Would any team pay up for him at this point?

A big fifth season would help his cause, though paying a lot of money for a running back is considered folly these days. Barkley will really need to show out in 2022, and even then he might not get what he wants.

At the very least, his body looks like it's ready to put in work.
