Former New York Giants running back Tiki Barber is the team's all-time rushing leader but he thinks that Saquon Barkley has a chance to take over that crown.

In Barber's career with the Giants, he rushed 2,217 times for 10,449 yards and 55 touchdowns.  In Barkley's rookie year he ran 261 times for 1,307 yards and 11 touchdowns and is well on his way to that record if he stays in the Big Apple.

“If he stays healthy and he stays here, in New York,” Barber said Thursday at Yankee Stadium via NJ.com. “My records don’t have a chance.”

Barber has spent some time around Barkley and the player he most reminds him of is Adrian Peterson who will go down as one of the greatest running backs of all time.

“He can be one of the greatest ever,” Barber said. “Physically, he’s a freak. I’ll parallel him to Adrian Peterson. When I first met Adrian, I looked at his muscular and body structure and was just in awe. His muscles were popping out of his skin and Saquon is the same way. That portends a durability.

“When you pair that with a passion and desire to be great, you get an Adrian Peterson. Saquon is the same type of player, but he’s much better, because he’s so versatile. Adrian couldn’t catch the ball out of the backfield or line up as a wide receiver. Saquon can do that at a very high level.”

This is high praise from one of the most popular Giants off all time but he seems to be onto something here. There weren't many bright spots for the Giants last but Barkley was one of them. If Daniel Jones can become a solid NFL quarterback and Barkley stay's healthy, the future is looking bright.
