Could Seattle Seahawks quarterback Russell Wilson be Eli Manning's successor in the Big Apple?

Fox Sports talk-show host Colin Cowherd seems to think so.

Cowherd says he has heard through the grapevine that Wilson, who apparently wants out of Seattle, would like to play for the New York Giants and could ultimately end up requesting a trade to Big Blue.

“Wilson's wife is Ciara. She is a singer and an entertainer. She would prefer to live in New York,” said Cowherd. “The Giants need a quarterback, and there's nobody in the draft they love. So, just remember this. A lot of things add up: Last year of Russell's contract. His wife would prefer New York. Seattle is not an entertainment mecca. … The Giants need a star quarterback to replace Eli [Manning].”

Of course, no one knows for sure how accurate any of these reports are, but you can imagine that the Giants would love to have Wilson as their Manning replacement.

A five-time Pro Bowler, Wilson is coming off of the best season of his career in which he threw for 3,448 yards, 35 touchdowns, and seven interceptions while completing 65.6 percent of his passes and registering a passer rating of 110.9.

The 30-year-old was originally drafted by the Seahawks in 2012 and has been their starting quarterback ever since, leading them to back-to-back Super Bowl appearances during the 2013-14 and 2014-15 campaign, including a Super Bowl victory over the Denver Broncos in the former season.

With Manning now 37 years old, New York is looking for a new signal-caller. It would be very interesting if Wilson ended up being that guy.
