Will Johnny Manziel ever play in the NFL again? No one knows that for sure, but Johnny Football is putting in the work to put him in the best shape just in case an NFL team come calling for his name – and he has a high-profile training partner to help him prepare for a possible return to the big league.
In a video posted on Twitter by The Checkdown, Manziel could be seen undergoing a series of drills on the football field and in the gym along with New York Giants superstar wide receiver Odell Beckham Jr.
In a sense, both Manziel and Beckham are working for their NFL comebacks. The difference, though, is that Manziel does not have an active NFL contract. The former Heisman Trophy winner last appeared in an NFL game in 2015, when he was still part of the Cleveland Browns. The Browns selected Manziel 22nd overall in the 2014 NFL Draft, but was waived by the team two years later due to the quarterback’s inability to stay away from off-the-field distractions.
Odell Beckham Jr., on the other hand, played in only four games last season after suffering a broken ankle during a Week 5 matchup against the L.A. Chargers.
Manziel and Beckham were from the same draft class with the former being selected 12th overall out of LSU by the Giants in 2014.
Johnny Manziel, the former Texas A&M hotshot signal-caller, has played in only 15 games in the NFL, coming up with 1,657 passing yards, seven passing touchdowns, and seven interceptions. A dual-threat quarterback, Manziel also had 259 rushing yards and a touchdown on 46 carries.
